Sonny’s Bar-B-Q 100 Results
Citrus County Speedway veteran and local favorite Herb Neuman
turned his 6th place starting position into a solid win in the Race
No. 4 of the Sunoco FAST series. Pole sitter Austin Kirkpatrick led the first
20 laps, but fell victim to mechanical problems and surrendered the lead to
Mike Bresnahan on lap 21. Bresnahan exited the race on lap 47, turning the lead
over to Neuman who battled Fast Time qualifier Wayne Anderson for the remainder
of the event. Anderson mounted several challenges late in the race, but Neuman
steadily pulled away as Anderson and Scott Grossenbacher battle for 2nd.
The race was slowed five times by cautions,
with the most serious incident occurring on lap 50 when Steve Dorer collided
with Randy Anderson on the backstretch, sending Anderson into the third turn
wall. Both cars were damaged in the incident, although Dorer continued several
laps before exiting the race.
